Mike Lloyd, founder

Mike Lloyd has had a varied career including in research, research management, intellectual property management, and IP searching and analytics. Along the way he has lived in Australia, New Zealand and Scandinavia, and has been an integral member of a start-up that has commercialised patent searching software around the world.

Underpinning this is a belief that carefully prepared and targeted data can help patent owners, attorneys and other parties make more informed and better decisions.

In previous roles, including working for an ASX listed multinational and a leading Australian patent attorney firm, Mike has:

  • Helped determine the patentability, freedom to operate, and commercial viability of a wide variety of new innovations

  • Managed large research contracts

  • Managed a full audit of a sophisticated IP portfolio for ASX listed companies.

  • Developed and implemented innovative patent analytics services that have helped startup, ASX and even off-shore companies better understand their patents and their value proposition.

  • Developed and provided patent analytics to patent valuation projects, including for government agencies.

  • Researched and summarised background materials for a number of litigious matters.

  • Help developed an innovative patent searching software product that has been commercialised around the world, and then helped sell this product, including to global companies and patent examiners.

  • Spoken on patent searching and analytics to conferences in Australia, Singapore, Germany, the Netherlands, France and the US

  • Published papers on patent analysis in industry and scientific publications.
